'Grease' returns to AMC theaters for a $5 admission charge to honor the late Olivia Newton-John

“Grease” will return to the large display following the dying of the long-lasting 1978 movie’s star, Olivia Newton-John.  

On Thursday, AMC CEO Adam Aron introduced that the traditional film musical will play in 135 of the chain’s theaters for a $5 admission charge, and $1 of every ticket offered shall be donated to breast most cancers analysis. 

“To honor the late Olivia Newton-John, lots of our U.S. theaters this weekend will present her traditional 1978 hit film Grease, once more on the large display,” Aron wrote on Twitter. 

“An affordable $5 admission worth, and thru our charity AMC Cares we’ll donate $1 per offered ticket to breast most cancers analysis.”

Newton-John died Aug. 8 at 73 after a three-decade-long battle with breast most cancers. 

The four-time Grammy winner skyrocketed to fame after starring in “Grease” because the healthful Australian trade scholar Sandy Olsson, who falls in love with the rebellious chief of the native “greaser” gang Danny Zuko, performed by John Travolta.

Following her dying, tributes poured in from Travolta, Barbra Streisand, Oprah, Viola Davis and Kylie Minogue, amongst different celebrities.  

Travolta, who maintained a robust friendship with Newton-John through the years, shared a classic picture of his late co-star on Instagram.

“My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so a lot better,” Travolta wrote within the caption of his publish.  

“Your affect was unimaginable. I really like you a lot. We’ll see you down the highway and we’ll all be collectively once more. Yours from the primary second I noticed you and eternally!”  

The “Pulp Fiction” star signed his message with “Your Danny, your John!”

The Prime Minister of Newton-John’s native Australia, Anthony Albanese, additionally honored the star, saying she was a “vibrant, joyful glow in our lives.” 

Selection reported Monday that audio and video streams of Newton-John’s songs jumped 614% within the week following her dying. Gross sales of the “Grease” soundtrack elevated 231%, and album gross sales went up 1339%.  

The Chicks paid tribute to Newton-John throughout their Saturday live performance on the Gorge in Washington. The band carried out her solo tune from “Grease,” “Hopelessly Devoted To You.”

Throughout Coldplay’s live performance at London’s Wembley Stadium Tuesday evening, the band’s frontman, Chris Martin, and Natalie Imbruglia sang Danny and Sandy’s hit duet “Summer season Nights” in honor of Newton-John.
